Royal Dutch Shell to sell $9.5 billion oil field to Conoco Phillips

Royal Dutch Shell RDS.A -2.16% PLC is close to a deal to sell assets in the Permian basin, the most active U.S. oil field, to ConocoPhillips COP -3.14% for around $9.5 billion, according to people familiar with the matter.

The deal could come Monday, assuming talks don’t fall apart, the people said. It comes as Shell is attempting to cut its carbon emissions and invest more in renewable energy.
